The Shenandoah County School Board took three formal actions at its May meeting.
Personnel list approved: Miss Whitney Pence moved to approve the personnel list as presented; the motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote with the board recording the outcome as 6 to 0 in favor. No individual personnel details were discussed on the public record.
Attendance-zone transfer denied: Miss Pence moved to deny a request for Student A to transfer attendance zones from Sandy Hook Elementary to W.W. Robinson Elementary. Mister Street seconded the motion. The chair clarified that a vote of "yes" would deny the request; after roll-call voting the chair recorded the result as a denial with a vote tally reported in the meeting as 4 to 2. (Names were recorded in roll-call but the public minutes will show the official tally as entered by the clerk.)
Deed of easement granted for Riverwalk access: Mister Rickard moved to approve a deed of easement granting the Town permission to establish a parking area and walking path on school property along South Holiday Street as proposed; Miss Carlinio seconded. The board approved the motion by voice vote (ayes prevail 6 to 0). The presenter explained the easement would be for 25 years, the town would maintain the path and parking area (approximately 14 gravel spaces) and the project is grant-funded.
The board certified by roll call that the closed meetings were used only for the identified personnel, student and contract matters and adjourned after final certification.
