The Sparks Civil Service Commission conducted several routine votes and personnel actions at its April 8 meeting.
The commission approved the published meeting agenda and later approved the minutes from the Jan. 14, 2026 meeting. Both motions were moved, seconded and carried.
Under general business the commission conducted a seniority lot draw for multiple firefighter recruits hired March 9, 2026. Commissioners drew and recorded an order for Adele Emmer, McKenzie (Kenzie) Erickson, Riley Kennedy, Taber Colmes, Tino Matalla and Austin Rubalcava and then voted to accept the lottery.
On personnel lists, HR requested removal of names from the police office assistant eligibility list because candidates withdrew, failed parts of background checks or were no longer interested; the commission moved, seconded and unanimously approved the removals in accordance with the cited civil service regulation. Separately, the commission approved a six‑month extension of a laborer eligibility list (the second and final allowable six‑month extension under the regulation), noting the list would then remain valid through the end of the extension period.
All motions on the consent and business agenda carried without recorded dissent. The commission adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
