District staff on May 5 told the Barrington CUSD 220 Board of Education that a six-month review of the district's social media awareness and digital citizenship work showed mixed results: classroom engagement is largely unchanged or better, off-task device use declined slightly, but access problems persist for instructional videos and web-filtering at the secondary level.
"The guidelines are not just about managing devices. They are about helping students develop habits, skills, and awareness that support their overall well-being and success," the district's digital citizenship presenter said during a packed presentation to the board and public. The presenter said the district compared October and April survey results and drew from student, staff and family feedback as well as incident reporting to form conclusions.
