Limestone County approves preliminary plans for 210‑lot Jones Landing and four minor plats

The Limestone County Commission voted May 4 to rescind an earlier approval of the Lappington Estate subdivision and approved five new plats, including a major preliminary approval for Jones Landing, a subdivision that would create 210 lots in District 2.

The action came after County Engineer Mr. Massie told the commission that the Lappington Estate plat would be resubmitted with changes and recommended rescinding the April 20 approval. The commission voted unanimously to rescind the prior approval and then considered five other plats submitted by the engineer.

Mr. Massie described the five proposals as follows: Jones Landing (major preliminary approval, 210 lots, District 2); East Limestone Heights (resubdivision of lots 3 and 4, block 2, minor preliminary and final); a 16‑lot minor subdivision in District 3; Paradise Shores Addition One (redivision of lot 79 into two lots, minor preliminary and final); and Alexander Station (minor preliminary and final, creating four lots in District 4). Commissioner Turner moved to approve the subdivisions as submitted; the motion was seconded and carried on a unanimous vote.

The approvals were procedural votes to grant the plats as presented; the commission did not adopt related zoning changes, conditions, or infrastructure commitments during the meeting. The engineer indicated the Jones Landing filing is for preliminary approval, which typically precedes detailed engineering review and permitting.

Next steps: the approved preliminary plats will proceed through the county’s standard review and permitting processes. The rescinded Lappington Estate application will be resubmitted with changes, per the engineer’s notice to the commission.
