The Millville City Council appointed two residents to fill open seats on the Planning Commission at its April 9 meeting.
Bonnie Farmer, Garrett Greenhalgh and Shane Johnson each spoke briefly; Joe McCormick submitted materials by email and Larry Lewis was absent. Councilmember Pamela June said she valued both Garrettfor his Planning Commission experienceand Joefor a fresh perspective, but council votes resulted in Garrett Greenhalgh and Shane Johnson being appointed.
Councilmember June moved to appoint Garrett Greenhalgh; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. A subsequent motion to appoint Joe McCormick failed on a 2-3 vote (June and Ames yes; Zollinger, Ward and Ripplinger no). Councilmember Ward moved to appoint Shane Johnson; that motion passed with a unanimous yes vote.
Mayor David Hair thanked outgoing commissioner Bonnie Farmer for roughly 20 years of service.
The appointees will be sworn in by the city recorder at a future Planning and Zoning meeting.
