Charlton Select Board elects new chair, approves special event liquor permit and sets summer meeting dates

At its May 12 meeting the Charlton Select Board completed its annual reorganization, electing Steve Coronas as chair and David Sanger as vice chair. Board members also followed a local tradition of making a newly seated member clerk.
The board presented Sergeant Brian Cardan with a certificate recognizing his off‑duty life‑saving CPR and ventilations while participating in the Tough Rock event in Lexington on April 19, 2026. State Representatives Marcy and Frost attended and read a House commendation honoring Cardan's actions.
The board considered a special alcoholic beverage application from Sharon Kubler for wine and malt beverages for a wedding at Joslyn Camp, 150 Richardson's Corner Road, on June 27, 2026, 12 p.m.–7 p.m. The police chief, building commissioner and fire department had reviewed and approved the application; a motion to approve the license as submitted passed on voice vote.
Board members also discussed and confirmed a revised summer meeting schedule, agreeing tentatively on June 16, July 7 and August 11 for monthly summer meetings and leaving May 26 as a tentative 'as‑needed' meeting following Memorial Day.
Items discussed but not decided on at this meeting included consolidating a town inventory under bylaw Article 25, employee appreciation plans for August, and an AI policy for municipal use that the board asked staff to prepare for a future agenda.
