Board approves contract repayment language and votes to discuss superintendent evaluation in closed session

At its May 11 meeting the Frankfort Independent school board approved amended contract language intended to clarify the district’s ability to recoup certain expenses when employees depart, including tuition reimbursements, district-issued devices and childcare payments. Staff said the language is intended to sit in the retention/tuition-reimbursement agreement employees sign and is broader than tuition alone, citing past instances of recovering equipment and other payments.
During the discussion, board members asked that the nondiscrimination clause be placed last in the contract order and asked staff to check whether corresponding changes were needed in existing board policy. The board moved, seconded and approved the contract language by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.
Later in the meeting the board voted to enter a closed session citing KRS 156.557 for the superintendent evaluation and a second KRS citation given in the record as "KRS 618C" regarding proposed or pending litigation. The motion to enter closed session was moved and seconded and the board called for a voice vote; the transcript ends at the call for the vote.
Human Resources was assigned to update the contract template and retention agreement language following board direction. Board members asked staff to identify any board-policy cross-references that might require amendment.
