Board accepts resignations, approves hires and appoints Thomas Logan to district risk-retention role

At the start of the meeting an unnamed board speaker announced the resignation of Mike Olsson, who represented the Carpenter area, and said the seat must be filled within 30 days. Board members discussed advertising and a brief application period to identify Carpenter-area applicants in time to meet the timeline.
Later in the meeting the board approved a motion to accept new hires pending required certification and background checks (substitute custodians, technology summer help, head coach and other positions) and approved a list of personnel changes and extra-duty assignments for 2026'27. The board also approved JumpStart and ESY (extended school year) summer staffing.
The board moved and approved a separate motion to appoint Thomas Logan as Laramie County School District #2's representative to the school risk retention program for an additional three-year term. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Board members thanked departing employees whose resignations or retirements were announced and asked staff to post the trustee vacancy and process applications from Carpenter residents to meet the statutory timeline.
