The Laramie County School District #2 board on May 11 approved recommended changes to the certified salary schedules for the 2026'27 school year intended to align with recently enacted state legislation.
Board members discussed a slide presentation explaining that the teacher funding model will now use the statewide average salary adjusted by the district's regional cost factor and no longer includes health insurance or retirement in the per-FTE calculation. Those components will be reimbursed on a different basis, staff said.
As presented in the packet, the board approved a horizontal increase to certified salary schedules and added one step to the bottom of all salary schedules so employees currently at the bottom of the schedule receive an additional step next year. A motion to approve the salary recommendations for 2026'27 as presented was moved by Kendra, seconded, and passed by voice vote.
Board members said they appreciated the explanatory materials and the presentation for the public. Staff noted that some funding impacts remain estimates until final state guidance and allocation data are released and that final budget numbers will reflect any updates.
