Titans project reports roof cable lift underway; workforce and DBE payments rise

Tennessee Titans project leaders gave the board a construction progress update at Bridgestone Arena, reporting several milestone activities and workforce metrics.

Kell Dorsy, Titans project executive, said the team began lifting the ETF roof cable system and expects the first upper cable net to reach full tension over a period of weeks, with a target for full tension in early May. He described follow-on steps—installing about 234 posts beneath the net, then bringing in the bottom cable grid to create the completed tensioned roof support.

Dorsy also reported near-complete exterior glazing, installation of concourse speaker systems and subframing for large LED video boards, as well as mechanical systems such as a cooling tower and early retaining-wall work for parcel and future development boundaries. He said the project remains on schedule.

Project workforce and participation figures were presented: the construction team said the daily workforce averages about 2,000 workers (peaking around 2,150) and that the program has logged more than 5.3 million labor hours to date. A participation representative reported DBE/participation payments have "eclipsed $213" million in the transcript; the exact figure should be verified with project records because the meeting record includes slight transcription variations.

The team also reported two recent recordable incidents (a foreign-object debris injury to an eye and a minor contact with an electrical box); both workers returned to duty, and safety remains a daily focus as the team works toward its incident-rate goals.
