The Sports Authority, acting on recommendations from its finance committee, approved two resolutions related to park maintenance and stadium demolition at its Bridgestone Arena meeting.
Director Dan Hogan reported the finance committee considered a three-year contract for regular maintenance of the biotension/bioretention basin at First Horizon Park. Staff received three quotes and recommended the low bid of $11,400 (vendor name transcribed as Cumberland River Compact). The board moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.
The finance committee also recommended authorizing the president, with guidance from legal, to negotiate and enter contracts with vendors for salvage and wholesale sale of seats from the existing Nissan Stadium as part of demolition planning. Hogan said wholesale seating vendors have expressed interest in purchasing between 5,000 and 15,000 seats and that removal windows will be very tight once the season ends. The board approved that authorization by voice vote.
Mike Woolly of Venue Solutions Group delivered a technology condition assessment for First Horizon Park, telling the board that the venue’s major AV and video systems date to 2015 and many components are at or beyond a typical 10‑year lifespan; VSG will provide a final, longer-term capital plan that includes technology, camera systems and rack-room equipment.
All motions recorded in the finance committee report were approved by voice at the full board meeting; the transcript records approval without numeric tallies.
