City Attorney Ibrahimi reported to the Placerville City Council that closed-session deliberations produced two unanimous personnel appointments.
"The council met in close session on four items this evening," Ibrahimi said. "On item one, appointment of interim city manager, the city council unanimously appointed Joe Ren as the interim city manager. On item number two, the council unanimously appointed Natalie Tornikasa as the director of finance. On items three and four, the council provided direction to staff." The city attorney also said there was no advance public comment for the closed-session items.
What it means: The city has filled two senior administrative roles reported to council in open session. The appointments were recorded as unanimous in the closed-session report.
Next steps: The interim city manager and the new finance director will assume their duties as reported; staff will follow the usual onboarding and reporting processes and will provide updates to the council as appropriate.
