Kandiyohi County’s public works director presented five construction and maintenance items and the board approved all by voice vote on March 17.
The board authorized award of the annual seal‑coat contract to Pearson Brothers Inc. (low bidder, approximately $210,205). Knife River Corporation received the annual chloride dust‑control contract (about $228,115). Asphalt Surface Technology Corp (Aztec) won the crack‑filling contract (about $141,380). Striping (reflectorized pavement markings) for the south half of the county was awarded to Sir Lines‑a‑Lot of Edina (about $154,500). Finally, the board accepted the township road project (replacement of a wooden ‘‘wagon wheel’’ bridge with a new section of 18th Avenue NE) and approved final payment to RNG Construction in the amount reported at the meeting ($17,777.22).
Public Works Director Mel Odins told the board bids were generally under the engineer’s estimates and that seal‑coat and dust control plans depend on weather; he also said snow‑removal budgets remain in good shape for awarding projects this spring.
All contract awards and the final project acceptance were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
