The board considered a series of policy items presented by the policy committee and approved first readings (for example, GCQC designation of school unit employees; EBE school-closings and cancellations; and EHB records management) and moved forward on a deletion of an obsolete business-management goal policy. Several items advanced by second reading, including policy CB (school superintendent) and CBI (evaluation of the superintendent); CHD was combined into CB and deleted accordingly.
The policy committee chair moved the motions and the board recorded voice votes; the minutes indicate each of the policy motions carried as presented and that deletions processed under the one-reading rule for removals. For the items where the transcript records the result, the board member responses were unanimous.
Separately, the board approved a slate of Hampton Academy overnight trips (music and athletic competitions) by motion; the motion carried unanimously.
The board also set a budget calendar with multiple budget-committee meetings in March and April and a full-board budget workshop on May 13, with the district budget meeting scheduled for June 4 in the gym.
