The Wallingford Public Schools Policy Committee reviewed a proposed employee fingerprinting policy during its May 12, 2026 meeting, with the presenter saying the written policy puts into the district's personnel manual a process the district already follows under Connecticut law.
"We currently do not... we don't have a written policy," said Miss Lour, the presenter, who said the policy is the CABE model and was reviewed by the district’s personnel staff, including Dave Bryant, and the superintendent to ensure alignment with state requirements. The regulation accompanying the policy documents the technical procedures for handling and disposing of fingerprinting materials, the presenter said.
The presenter told members Shipman did not have a fingerprinting model, so the CABE text was used. She said legal references and internal reviews were completed to confirm the language matches the district’s practice and statutory obligations.
Committee members asked no substantive questions during the presentation. Miss Lour said she would move the policy forward to the district’s Instructional Committee on Monday, May 18, and that the board packet for the full Board of Education would be distributed the following day.
Next steps: The policy will be considered by the Instructional Committee on May 18, and then placed in the full board packet for the Board of Education to review.
