Fayetteville board approves budget hearings, event permits, fire-truck bond and several grant applications

The board voted to call public hearings on June 9, 2026, for the City of Fayetteville FY27 budget and the Fayetteville City School FY27 budget; motions were made by Alderman Alder and seconded by Alderman Allen and approved by roll call. The board approved the Music in the Park permit for Stonebridge Park (four concerts May–August) and an event permit for First United Methodist Church’s vacation Bible school after police review and Chief Jennings’ recommendation.
On capital financing, the board authorized an obligation bond through Bass, Berry & Sims not to exceed $2,350,000 to finance the previously approved purchase of a fire truck; members noted a $12,000 bond fee discussed during the financing review. The procurement award for an Hback (listed in the packet) was approved in favor of Long's Refrigeration at $36,486 for a five-year purchase.
Personnel and grants: the board approved a memorandum of understanding with the Tennessee Youth Employment Program (through the South Central Human Resource Agency) that can provide up to $3,500 per student or seasonal employee, primarily to support lifeguards for Parks and Recreation. The board also formed an ad hoc committee to address the Southside fire aftermath and approved two school budget amendments (Bever City School amendment number three balanced at $170,540.25; Fayetteville City School amendment number one presented at $44,427.19 — that motion carried with one recorded dissenting vote). The board authorized application for a HOME grant (application up to $750,000 through the South Central Development District) and approved a TWWR Clean Stream grant application for parks work (no local match required).
