Perkins council approves inspection, legal and manager contracts

Council approved a one-year contract with Charlie Butler to provide inspection services from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, at a flat fee of $2,000 per month (an increase of $500 from the prior contracted fee). Council members noted the contractor's certifications and expected workload to increase as new subdivisions and commercial developments move forward.
Council also renewed the agreement with J. Trevor Hammonds PLLC to provide city prosecutor services at $150 per hour with travel time billed at $75 per hour and reimbursement for extraordinary costs. The renewal was presented as the same arrangement the city currently has.
Finally, council approved the city manager contract, which includes a 5% salary increase; council recorded assent by voice vote.
