The Perkins City Council unanimously approved agreements and reappointments for two municipal judges and administered the oath of office to both on May 12.
Council discussed the performance and scheduling of the municipal court dockets before voting to approve an agreement with John E. Camel Jr. and to reappoint him to the bench. Judge Camel then took the oath: “I, John E. Camel, Jr., do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support, obey, and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Oklahoma ... that I will faithfully discharge my duties as municipal judge for the city of Perkins to the best of my ability.”
The council next considered an agreement with Judge Sydney Wade Shaw. Shaw said she concurred with Judge Camel's remarks and praised city staff, including Tiffany and Melanie. Council approved the agreement and moved to reappoint Judge Shaw. She also recited the oath on the record.
Motions to approve the agreements and the reappointments were made and seconded; voice votes recorded on the record showed Mayor, Sarah, Jason and Veronica voting yes.
