LCSD1 honors students and staff: Kids Heart Challenge fundraiser, Students of the Week, bilingual seals and ESPY awards

The Laramie County School District #1 board spent the early portion of its meeting recognizing students and staff for recent achievements.
Nova Evans of Freedom Elementary was acknowledged for raising roughly $1,900 for the American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge; Jodie Abrams of the American Heart Association congratulated her and presented a certificate and a forthcoming trophy. The board also named Haley Casease (Triumph High School) and Curtis Dunlop (McCormack Junior High) as Students of the Week for April 27 and May 4, respectively, with principals and teachers describing their contributions and resiliency.
District world-language teachers and the world-language TOSA Sarah Evans announced dozens of students who earned the Wyoming Seal of Biliteracy or the district's Seal of Biliteracy (including advanced distinction awards and exchange-student recognitions) across Central, East, South and other high schools. Teachers named recipients by language group and coordinated a group photo and reception following the meeting.
The district also presented the Educational Support Person of the Year awards: Bridget Whiteman received the student-support ESPY and Lucas Finch received the district-support ESPY; presenters highlighted both winners' steady contributions to students and to special-services operations.
These recognitions were ceremonial and informational; no policy changes were associated with the presentations.
