Commission approves staff concurrence on multiple park, trail and playground grant applications including $600,000 Middletown request

Commission staff presented and the commission approved concurrence/comments for several intergovernmental grant applications seeking funding for park, trail and stormwater projects across the county.
Highlights of the list include Middletown Borough's Sera Crossings Park phase two request for $600,000 to support comprehensive park improvements; Londonderry Township's Sunset Park replacement request for about $250,000 for equipment and site development; and Harrisburg City's riverfront park green stormwater infrastructure request for $250,000 tied to storm-separation work by Capital Region Water. City Island received a request for a $250,000 master-plan study. The commission also reviewed a major shared-use trail proposal at Wiser State Forest (Rattling Creek) with roughly 19 miles of trail improvements plus 13.1 miles of equestrian trail and a competitive SS4A discretionary application for Division Street multimodal safety improvements.
A newly added item, Lower Paxton Township's request to renovate the Possibility Place playground at Thomas B. George Park with associated green/stormwater improvements, was also approved for concurrence. The commission voted to record staff comments and forward them with its concurrence to the submitting municipalities and agencies.
