Dauphin County planning staff opened a 30-day public comment period for the regional Transportation Improvement Program, announcing two virtual public information sessions scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The update lays out the county's four-year list of federal and state-funded transportation projects and is expected to be adopted by the relevant committees in June.
Staff also reported the region received a planning grant of about $500,000 to fund additional safety planning at locations identified in last year's safety study and said consultants will be brought on this summer to begin that work. In addition, the commission said it has completed an electric-vehicle infrastructure priority determination under PennDOT's NEVI program and will submit applications when PennDOT opens the next application round.
Commission staff encouraged residents to review the interactive story map and submit comments through the transportation planner. The staff emphasized the regional nature of the TIP process and that public input at the two sessions and via written comments will be considered before final adoption.
