Jiffy Lube apologizes after repainting without approval; board grants retroactive approval

Mitch Marquet of Jiffy Lube spoke to the board and said, "I apologize and, should have known better. And that won't happen again." He said he did not contact the city before changing the colors and that he submitted before-and-after photos and Sherwin-Williams color identifications with the application.
Board members noted the paint scheme (a top band of red, a wider white band and blue on the bottom, with gray at the base) and that applicants should apply before making changes. A motion to approve the submitted application passed. The chair admonished the representative but closed the item after the vote.
The approval was recorded as a consent-agenda action; staff reminded businesses to seek approval before exterior changes.
