North Ogden council restores public comment to start of meetings after 3–1 vote

The North Ogden City Council voted 3–1 to restore public comment to the start of tonight's agenda, reversing a placement the mayor had previously listed elsewhere on the agenda for this meeting.
Council Member Dass moved to return public comments to the beginning of the meeting and encouraged speakers to remain civil, particularly because candidates for the midterm council seat were present. Council Member Carney seconded the motion. The roll-call style voice vote passed three in favor, one opposed. Staff then set the public-comment rules for the meeting: speakers must come to the microphone, state their name and whether they are a resident of North Ogden, and limit comments to five minutes.
During the public-comment period resident Kevin Dreeze spoke in support of candidate Kevin Burns, calling him a neighbor he has known for many years and stating, "I know him to be honest and have great integrity." No other public commenters were recorded before the council moved into interviews and the advertised appointment process.
At the end of the meeting several residents praised the council for reinstating the earlier public-comment placement and urged continued outreach and inclusion across North Ogden's increasingly diverse population.
