Board approves insurance renewal, facility contracts and rescinds teacher termination

At Monday’s session the Rock Ridge School Board approved several administrative and financial items on the agenda, including insurance renewals, facility contracts and a personnel rescission.
The board approved renewal of property and liability insurance for 2026–27 and workers’ compensation coverage. Staff reported the property/liability premium will increase by about $26,347 in total; approximately $7,779 of that increase is due to the district lowering its property deductible from $50,000 to $25,000. The coverage noted that director’s and cyber insurance components are included in the property/liability package.
The board also approved an easement, weed-and-plant treatment at the high school front entrance, a memorandum of understanding with Education Minnesota regarding missed grading time, and facility-use contracts for Rock Ridge Summer softball and the Rock Ridge baseball association for defined summer dates.
In personnel action, the board voted by roll call to rescind Resolution 26-04 and reinstate probationary teacher Sean Johnson to a special-education position; the minutes recorded unanimous yes votes. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for June 8 and adjourned.
What happens next: Facilities and finance staff will implement the contracts and insurance renewals; HR will process the reinstatement of the teacher and notify affected parties.
