City staff updated the council on concept-design work for a proposed justice center and announced two public engagement opportunities to gather resident feedback.
Mr. Murdoch told council that design firms PGAV and MWL conducted a two-day workshop and toured city facilities and the proposed site at 58 Highway and Pine to study space needs and circulation. Staff and the architects plan a May 27 public session in council chambers featuring small-group Q&A “pods” (site, department needs, financing) and, if conditions allow, small-group tours of city police facilities. The session will include a brief joint presentation at 6:30 p.m. so attendees can review early drawings and ask specific questions.
A follow-up public meeting on June 18 will present the first concept renderings and renderings for broader public comment. Staff said the goal is to use public feedback to refine concepts and present a final report to council in July.
Chief Wilson and other public-safety staff will attend a station-design conference as part of the process; staff described the effort as intended to produce an efficient, community-serving facility.
