The South Redford Board of Education opened discussion on the Wayne RESA preliminary budget for the 2026—27 fiscal year. District presenters noted the statutory obligation for each constituent district under Section 380.624 of the revised school code to review the proposed budget, adopt a resolution expressing support or disapproval by June 1, and submit any objections or suggested changes to Wayne RESA.
One board member said RESA traditionally presents a comprehensive and fiscally responsible budget and recommended supporting it as presented. Another member raised a concern about a declining fund balance at RESA while salary and staffing costs rise, and asked staff to monitor longer-term sustainability and to report back to the board prior to any formal submission.
No formal district-level resolution was adopted at the meeting; discussion was recorded as part of the boards annual review process ahead of the June 1 statutory deadline.
