Park ambassador program to move to health department as coordinator plans to step down

The Franklin City Parks Commission heard an update May 11 on the park ambassador program and a planned management transition to the Franklin Health Department.
A program coordinator told the commission that she has already shared manuals, training materials and program data with health department staff and plans to step down from day-to-day coordination during or shortly after the summer season (she said she expects August will likely be her last month of active leadership). "I've been running that program since 2018 ... I'll walk with them through the summer," the coordinator said, asking commissioners to help with continuity during the handoff.
Planning staff and commissioners thanked the coordinator for years of volunteer leadership and noted that moving the program to the Health Department may strengthen future grant applications and provide centralized data for public-health-oriented outreach. Commissioners asked staff to share schedule and publicity details about upcoming ambassador activities; staff said they will provide timing for the ambassador recognition and public events.
The commission did not take formal action; staff said they will continue the transition process and keep the commission informed.
