Metropolitan Council approves leadership reassignments, appoints Lisa Freeze to parks commission

The Metropolitan Council on May 13 approved a package of committee leadership changes and unanimously appointed Lisa Freeze to serve as commissioner for District F on the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space Commission.

Council members voted by voice to formalize the reassignment of leadership roles that Council staff earlier circulated by email: Anelie Cameron will assume the council vice chair role effective at the close of the May 13 meeting; Council Member Morales will chair the management committee; Council Member Reva Chamblas will chair the transportation committee with Council Member Obisaken as vice chair; Council Member Jenkins will serve as audit committee vice chair; and Council Member Chamblas will represent the Council on the Transportation Advisory Board with Council Member Obisaken as alternate.

The changes were presented as part of the meeting’s "other business" agenda item and were approved after brief remarks of thanks and congratulations from several members. Council Member Johnson thanked staff and praised Morales’s leadership, saying she had been "so impressed with his leadership," and other members highlighted the contribution of newer council members stepping into roles.

The meeting also approved, by voice vote, the midterm appointment of Lisa Freeze to the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space Commission for District F; the term runs through January 2029. Council Member Cedarberg noted that Freeze will represent Washington County’s Districts 11 and 12 and thanked members who conducted the interviews.

All actions were carried by voice vote with no roll-call recorded in the transcript. The Council moved on to scheduled information items after completing these items.
