Perkiomen Valley board unanimously elects Dr. Jessica Kilmetz as next superintendent

The Perkiomen Valley School District Board of School Directors voted unanimously to elect Dr. Jessica Kilmetz as the district’s next superintendent, approving a five-year term effective no later than Aug. 10, 2026, through June 30, 2031.

Board members moved and seconded the superintendent appointment during the professional personnel portion of the meeting; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote. The board also authorized entering into an employment agreement to establish salary and fringe benefits for the position.

Board members praised Kilmetz’s interview and leadership qualities during the search process and expressed confidence she will continue the district’s work on curriculum, budgets and student supports. In a short statement after the vote, Kilmetz said she was “humbled and honored” and that she looks forward to “earning the trust” of the community and building on the district’s legacy.

Outgoing Superintendent Dr. Barbara A. Russell, who was recognized earlier in the meeting on the occasion of her upcoming retirement, offered congratulations and framed the transition as an opportunity to reflect on the district’s priorities.

The board did not provide further contract financial details in the meeting record. The appointment completes the formal personnel action recorded under professional personnel item 7.10; the board invited Kilmetz to address the audience immediately after the vote and welcomed her to the district.
