The York Suburban School Board unanimously approved a series of routine personnel and contracting items at its May 12 meeting. The board accepted the administration’s personnel report and approved multiple memoranda of agreement, including provisions for HVAC and essential employee terms. The votes were unanimous; eight members were present and one was absent.
Board members also authorized use of capital-reserve funds to replace carpet at Indian Rock with commercial VCT flooring at a cost of $163,978.89 through the Co‑Stars purchasing cooperative; the contract includes product, installation, demolition and disposal. Administration said the project will require library-book packing and volunteer assistance to protect materials during work.
Separately the board approved an environmental due‑diligence contract with Kleinfelder to perform soil testing and obtain a clean‑fill certificate ahead of planned excavation at the high‑school project. Staff said the estimated fee range is roughly $16,000–$19,000 depending on any follow‑up sampling; testing will begin promptly.
Several other items were motioned and approved without recorded opposition, including approval of minutes from the April 20 meeting and a short-term transportation contract. Where agenda paperwork contained numerical typos, staff flagged and corrected them during discussion.
The board’s procedural votes will be followed by final action where required on the May 26 regular meeting agenda.
