Dr. Richardson described BEDH as a revision to align the policy with current board practices and recommended approval. "The policy is being presented with substantial revisions to align with the board's current practices," Dr. Richardson said. The board later confirmed the second-reading vote after correcting a procedural omission during the meeting.
Dr. Kumis presented GCLE and the administrative rule, and commissioners discussed how unencumbered time for staff (including school nurses) might be handled if unforeseen events reduce scheduled unencumbered time. Commissioners asked about options to restore unencumbered time later in the day or week when emergencies occur.
Both policy items passed on second reading in unanimous votes.
