Court approves AV change orders for Emergency Services building and funds storm protection upgrades

Sam, who briefed the court, said that to save money some AV elements were omitted during an earlier design iteration after vendor turnover. The county negotiated a compromise in which the vendor supplied some materials at cost and waived certain labor charges. Sam said the components are needed to allow mult-source viewing in the county—s Emergency Operations Center and that the overall project remains roughly $200,000 under budget despite the change orders.
Separately, emergency services staff presented two vendor quotes for storm protection: door shutters and an impact film option that adds energy savings and reduces the risk of glass failing out of window frames. Staff asked the court to consider allocating funds now; commissioners noted the building remains under budget and indicated the funding could come from remaining project or grant monies.
The court approved the AV change order and later approved allocating funds for storm-protection measures by voice votes. Staff said they will proceed with procurement and installation and return with final invoices and project reconciliation.
