Board certifies May 2 election, swears in trustees and elects officers

The Montgomery Independent School District board canvassed and certified the May 2, 2026 trustee election results at its May 12 meeting and administered oaths to elected trustees.
During the canvass the board read precinct totals for each position as presented in the election report: Eddie Win (position 1) — total 2,830; Shawn Dennison (position 2) — total 2,784; Jenny Drew — 760; Matt Mitchell (position 3) — total 2,440. A motion to certify the results was made, seconded and carried.
Judge M. administered the statutory oaths of office to trustees, with each new trustee repeating the required oath for the Montgomery Independent School District Board of Trustee positions.
After returning to open session the board reorganized officers by nomination and show‑of‑hands vote. The nominations closed with a majority election by show of hands: Eddie Win was declared board president, Paul Cameron was elected vice president, and Dr. Elizabeth Ivy was elected board secretary for the 2025–2026 school year.
Board procedure during officer selection was to nominate publicly and record a show‑of‑hands majority for each office. No contested roll‑call tallies were provided beyond the show‑of‑hands declarations.
The board also completed required affirmations of local board member ethics before adjourning to closed session earlier in the meeting.
