Two local candidates speak to Hampstead council ahead of June primary

During the public-comment period, two candidates for upcoming elections spoke to the council.
Jay Landsman introduced himself as a candidate for sheriff in the June primary, described a 30-year law-enforcement career including roles with the Baltimore County Police Department and as deputy chief at Towson University, and said he would donate $100,000 per year of his salary to nonprofits supporting public safety, youth outreach and victim services if elected. Landsman emphasized preserving the independence of the sheriff's office and the state's attorney role.
Steve Patton said he is running for state delegate in District 42C, described long ties to Hampstead and volunteer legislative experience with a national nonprofit, and said he would "stand up in committee" to represent Hampstead's values in Annapolis. Patton encouraged turnout for early voting (June 11–18) and the June 23 primary.
Both candidates answered council members' questions about experience and how they would work with other agencies. The council thanked both speakers and reminded residents of early-voting dates and the primary.
