Hampstead updates police activity, begins police chief interviews; past chief cleared by state prosecutor

Mayor Nedvin and staff briefed the council on police chief recruitment: seven candidates were selected for interviews next week, with regional police leadership (Manchester, Sykesville, Carroll County sheriff's office) participating on the panel. The mayor said he expects to find a qualified full-time chief from the applicant pool.
The mayor also reviewed a previously reported matter involving former Chief Snyder. He said the state prosecutor reviewed an allegation alleging a Police Accountability Board Act reporting violation and elected not to move forward; Chief Snyder was cleared and has since taken a post in Gettysburg.
Next steps: candidate interviews will take place next week and staff will report back to council on recommended hires.
