The West Palm Beach City Commission voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 102-26, officially recognizing the neighborhood bounded roughly by 40th to 45th Street and Broadway to North Flagler as the Northwood Marina or "NoMar" neighborhood.
Armando Fana, assistant city administrator, presented the proposal and described recent changes in the area including infrastructure investments, a pocket park built with private assistance, renovations of existing homes and new single-family homes by GL Homes. Fana said redevelopment of the Marina CPD will include mixed-use projects with waterfront access and ground-floor retail.
Commissioners who spoke noted the naming reflects the neighborhood's evolving identity and that community members and the development team had engaged on the proposal. Commissioner Ward moved for approval; the motion was seconded and the commission approved the resolution without objection.
The resolution is largely symbolic but accompanies ongoing capital improvements and private development in the corridor. The commission did not record any public comment cards on the item during tonight's meeting.
The resolution was adopted unanimously; implementation will include signage and inclusion of the name in city planning materials.
