Tree commission praises Earth Day giveaway, plans earlier ordering and better recipient information

Commissioners confirmed they will coordinate a plug delivery expected the following Monday, and staff said they would reach out to volunteers and public works for help with planting. Staff asked for small tools and water buckets to aid nighttime or evening plantings and said they would attempt to plant before prolonged rain when practical.
The discussion closed with members agreeing to put earlier species-selection discussions on next year’s calendar and to expand recipient education materials ahead of the next Earth Day.
