The Leesburg City Commission approved an ordinance amendment reducing the boundaries of the Grace Groves (Bar Key) Community Development District by roughly 40 acres after the Florida Department of Transportation purchased land for turnpike retention. Staff said the change will not affect the number of housing units or required green space, and the commission approved the amendment by roll call.
Separately, staff introduced an ordinance to realign and expand the County Road 33 Community Development District to consolidate nearby subdivisions — including Preservation Place and phases of Banning Ranch and Tierra Vista — under a single CDD and increase its area by roughly 702 acres. Staff said zoning and density are unchanged; advertising and first-reading requirements mean the item will return for formal action, currently expected on June 22.
The commission took no final adoption action on the County Road 33 expansion at the meeting; staff and applicants will complete required advertising and return the ordinance for first reading.
