Interim superintendent reports high MAP completion, aims to finalize CESIP by June 1

Interim Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Latrice Harris told the Normandy Schools Collaborative board on May 12 that the district is close to reaching full participation in MAP assessments and is working to finalize its Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CESIP).
Dr. Harris said MAP testing completion rates were high across campuses: she reported what the district had as 100% completion at Belnor, Washington and Jefferson schools; 97% completion at Barack Obama Elementary; and 98% completion at the middle and high school levels, with staff working to reach over 99% districtwide. She said counselors and principals were supporting students to finish outstanding sessions.
Dr. Harris described ongoing work on CESIP and accreditation, noting scheduled meetings with Dr. Mary Hendricks Harris of Ed Plus and coordination with curriculum supports. She said she intends to have a completed draft and present it to the board at the next meeting, targeting June 1 for a staff presentation.
The superintendent also described partnerships with Better Family Life, the Legacy Center and others to expand before- and after-school programs and social-emotional supports and said she has met with NEA leadership regarding bargaining and ratification of an IBB agreement.
Directors asked about committee continuity and timeline; Dr. Harris said the original committee will continue and that the team is following previously established timelines and DESIE guidance.
The board thanked Dr. Harris for the report and applauded district staff.
