Exeter board approves policy revisions and adopts 2026–27 academic calendar

At its May meeting the Exeter School District board approved a set of policy revisions and adopted the 2026–27 academic calendar.
The reviewed policies included JB (age of entrance), with language emphasizing superintendent discretion on early entrance and grade placement; JICJ (unauthorized communication devices), which added personal recording devices and clarified intent around enforcement (including smart-watch language); JLCJ (sports-related emergency procedures) and JLCF (wellness and nutrition) with minor edits. Board members directed any remaining questions back to the policy committee where appropriate and approved the recommended changes.
Principals described calendar changes for 2026–27: an in-service day moved from October to January for better timing with reporting periods, an early-release day added in April to accommodate student-led conferences, and the usual transition and move-up events scheduled for late spring. A motion to approve the calendar carried.
The approvals were made by motion and second, with board assent recorded during the meeting.
