Jeff Rro, introduced as the new tourism director, briefed commissioners on upcoming events and recent ticket sales.
Rro said the Strawberry Festival scheduled for May 23 will add a pickleball tournament and a three-on-three basketball tournament, with food and vendor participation expanding and 14 paid food vendors and 44 vendor slots already reserved. He said parade planning and a salute-to-veterans program will continue, with several guest speakers and local veteran recognition planned.
Rro reported amphitheater ticket sales for recent shows at about 1,283 and over 5,700 tickets sold respectively and outlined Sounds on Second and other summer events, including a benefit for St. Jude. He said the department has been managing vendor invitations and logistics to balance vendor load and attendee experience.
No formal action was required; staff will proceed with event logistics.
