District committee previews purchase of GPS units for buses; agreement to be voted in May

Joel said the devices will be used primarily by new drivers and those driving unfamiliar routes for field trips or sporting events, that the units are transferable between district vehicles, and that assignment will be handled by the transportation supervisor. He said the agreement has been reviewed by the district solicitor and that the motion will be presented to the board in May.
Committee members did not take a vote on the purchase at the meeting; Joel framed the presentation as a preview of a forthcoming motion. The facilities agenda also listed four policy second readings and other routine items; no public comment was offered on facilities.
