Pittsburg County commissioners approve routine resolutions, fiscal items and cooperative wildlife agreement

The Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners met on May 4, 2026, in McAlester and approved a set of routine resolutions and fiscal transactions, and authorized a cooperative wildlife management agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
In a series of motions the board unanimously approved Resolution 26-241 to accept a $60 donation to the Animal Shelter donation account and Resolution 26-242 to deposit $4,888.04 from the Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma Self Insured Group into the Assessor Reval account. It also approved Resolution 26-243 to deposit a $25 reimbursement into the Highway Sales Tax account and Resolution 26-244 to accept a $100 donation to the sheriff's cemetery-mowing fund. The board canceled Purchase Order 8506 for District 3 under Resolution 26-245, struck a surplus action for the animal shelter (26-246) and approved Resolution 26-247 declaring an IBM Wheel Writer typewriter junk and authorizing its removal from Health Department inventory.
Chairman Ross Selman read the resolutions and made the motions for several items; motions were seconded by Commissioners Rogers or Haynes as recorded, and each vote was recorded as AYE for Selman, Haynes and Rogers.
The board reviewed claims, transfers and monthly reports and later approved a long list of blanket purchase orders for multiple departments, including the sheriff's office, jail, animal shelter, asphalt plant and district shops. A roll-call vote approving claims, transfers and blanket purchase orders carried unanimously.
On intergovernmental matters, the board approved Cooperative Service Agreement paperwork with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services and the attached Work Initiation Document for wildlife damage management in fiscal year 2026–2027. Chairman Selman stated the county's contribution to the APHIS cooperative agreement is $3,400. The agreement and work plan identify beaver and feral swine as target species and state that APHIS' performance is contingent on federal compliance reviews, including the National Environmental Policy Act and the Endangered Species Act.
The meeting record shows the board also approved payment of $1,724.00 to the law firm Tisdal & O'Hara for professional services related to Cottage Park and Infoura, LLC litigation matters.
The meeting adjourned after the board signed approved claims.
