Millis planning board approves special permit for event tent at Windy Dog Farm

The applicant and property owner, Jen Zarotsky of Windy Dog Farm, described a typical event setup: a tent with sidewalls and lighting, tables, chairs and a dance floor to be delivered on June 10 and removed the following Sunday. "I'll just put the handicap signs at the closest possible parking spaces so that it's very quick for them to go around," Zarotsky said when asked about accessible parking.
Board members and the applicant discussed vendor responsibilities, portable restrooms (one designated accessible), flame-resistance certification for the tent and the property owner’s obligation to ensure vendors comply with permit conditions. The board emphasized it expects the property owner to contact vendors if they fail to meet permit requirements.
After taking public comment and confirming conditions, the board closed the public hearing and voted to create the special permit for the event date specified in the application; the motion carried by voice vote.
The permit approval included the standard conditions discussed during the hearing: provision of accessible parking and signage, flame-resistance certification for tent materials, appropriate insurance and adherence to permit and town requirements for large temporary structures.
The board thanked the applicant and closed the agenda item.
