"AI is changing faster than we can adopt it in the district," the task‑force lead said, summarizing the rapid pace of change and the reason for cautious policy development.
Staff described classroom pilots where teachers and students drafted essays and then documented the proportion of work contributed by AI versus human input, noting a focus on transparency and digital responsibility. The task force is drafting an AI usage guidance document (still in development) and intends to define data governance, system interoperability and professional development before broader implementation.
Board members had the opportunity to ask questions; staff said they will circulate draft guidance to the board once redlining is further along and that future work will include AI literacy for students and training for staff and families.
