Springdale board honors students, recognizes Aspiring Administrator Academy and arts achievements

The Springdale School Board opened its April meeting with student recognitions and program celebrations, highlighting young leaders and recent competitive successes across the district.

Student representative Adrianna Monroy, a senior at Harbor High School, led the Pledge of Allegiance and described her path through Springdale schools, her involvement in an education pathway class and a cancer‑awareness club that fundraises for patients. Board members and family members in the audience thanked Monroy for her leadership.

District leaders also highlighted the Aspiring Administrator Academy (A3), now in its second year. Administrators said the program provides eight sessions tied to the assistant‑principal rubric and mentorship across buildings; from last year’s cohort of 30 participants, eight were hired into building administrator or district coordinator roles. "It gave us real insight into leadership and what the day‑to‑day actually looks like in Springdale Schools," Jessica Winn, an instructional facilitator at Rollins, said of her experience in the academy.

The board recognized eight National Merit finalists by name and invited educators to describe each student’s development. Administrators and coaches also reviewed the district’s performing‑arts results, reporting hundreds of all‑region qualifiers, dozens of all‑state selections and several judges'‑choice awards at recent regional competitions. Music and theater directors thanked the board for program support and outlined upcoming community performances.

The recognitions closed with the board taking photographs and congratulating students and staff. No formal board action was required for the recognitions.
