District offers detailed bond update as Meads Mill, Northville High and Moraine projects advance

District facilities staff provided the board with a comprehensive update on bond-funded work across the Northville Public Schools portfolio, summarizing completed work and near-term construction activities.

Highlights and near-term items: Meads Mill has occupied a STEAM addition and is operating with a temporary lunch-serving arrangement while exterior canopy, parking-lot repaving and cafeteria/kitchen/locker-room renovations continue. Staff noted the temporary serving line was, in some cases, better than the previous kitchen layout and that summer work will include mechanical renovations and locker-room renovations scheduled for August.

At Northville High School, contractors have prepared the building pad and begun foundations for the STEAM addition; the natatorium (pool) is under scaffold and being renovated (new ductwork, mechanical systems and acoustical spray). The district plans auditorium, media-production and second-floor finishes in 2026—7 at later phase work in 2027. Moraine project design and summer construction will include a kitchen remodel, entry canopy and boiler replacement.

Phase-3 planning for Silver Springs and Winchester is underway with design completion this fall and anticipated construction in 2027; both buildings will receive STEAM additions and HVAC upgrades to replace legacy systems. Technology work continues across the district (fiber infrastructure, phone-system replacement and network switch upgrades) to support renovated spaces.

Board members praised staff and consultants for completing promised work and emphasized that delivering on bond commitments builds community trust. Construction managers asked for patience from staff and families while temporary traffic, serving lines and phased work continue. The board requested continued regular updates on schedules and procurement.
