City staff reports housing permit figures and seeks state reimbursements for LD 1184/LD 1829 work

Staff reported 16 building permits issued and six certificates of occupancy in the most recent quarter, noting winter construction seasonality and that several permits were for a recently approved tiny‑home park on Pushaw Road. When asked, staff said the Pushaw Road project will use public sewer service and treat stormwater on site.
Staff described two state funding opportunities: municipalities can seek reimbursement for costs related to reporting housing unit numbers under LD 1184 (costs eligible between September of last year and May 15), and a second grant can reimburse costs of implementing LD 1829 ordinance changes. The LD 1829 grant will cover eligible costs incurred after April 1 of this year through July 31, 2027, and offers awards up to $10,000; draft ordinance changes must be submitted to the state for a 30‑day review before adoption.
The committee voted to forward the recommendations to pursue these state funds.
In related planning items, staff announced two Jane’s Walk events on May 2 (a 10 a.m. downtown urban‑renewal route beginning at City Hall, and a 1 p.m. waterfront route beginning at Broad Street Park) and said the consolidated plan is open for public comment through the end of May with applications for certain community funds open until May 8.
