The Common Council continued its review of Platteville’s comprehensive plan, with staff and plan‑commission recommendations forwarded for council action at a later meeting.
Councilors identified a chart (page 40 of the draft) that they directed staff to remove and noted a handful of minor grammatical and dating corrections. Staff said the plan commission recommended adoption and that the plan will return to the council for final action after editorial corrections.
During public comment, resident Jim Schneller (620 Ridge Avenue) urged the council to retain a medium‑density designation for a parcel west of Westview, arguing higher density supports housing production and that many objections to the designation reflected ‘‘not in my backyard’’ sentiment rather than objective planning standards. Schneller cited recent residential permit comparisons with neighboring communities and asked the council to be receptive to housing development opportunities.
Councilors asked staff to correct the stated chart and follow up on outstanding technical clarifications. The item will return for final council action after those corrections.
