Highland Village ' The Highland Village City Council used part of its May 12 meeting for ceremonial recognitions: the mayor read a proclamation observing National Police Week and the council presented plaques and remarks to two outgoing members who served from 2018 to 2026.
During a reading of the proclamation the mayor called for the community to honor law enforcement and noted the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial vigil and the addition of names of fallen officers this spring; the proclamation designated May 10'16, 2026, as National Police Week in Highland Village and requested the U.S. flag be flown at half-staff on May 15.
The council then recognized two departing council members (referred to in the transcript as John and Robert) and thanked them for years of service. Members of the council offered personal remarks, expressed appreciation for their colleagues' institutional knowledge and leadership, and presented framed recognitions for service from 2018 to 2026.
The meeting then continued with staff reports and regular business; council adjourned after returning from a closed session in which no action was taken.
